Text : Proverbs 22:26-27
26. Be not among those who pledge, Among those who guarantee for debts; 27. If you don't have money to pay, why would you want your bed taken out from under you?
Let's remember:
Our attention is drawn to a certain lightness that we manifest by making commitments without measuring their scope. We put our heads in things that we could have easily avoided. Guaranteeing a debt is a real imprudence that makes us guilty in case of non-payment. Having no guarantee that he will honor the commitment to pay on time; let's be careful not to risk our credibility in such a case. It's not just bad faith; the person can be extremely honest but in the end, she is confronted with a logistical difficulty, climatic in short a circumstance which does not depend on her. Now, the creditor does not concern himself with the reasons that can be advanced; he is only waiting for his money according to the prior agreement. What would the one who had bonded say? Would he come to justify this disappointment? Would he pay instead of the debtor? Do not guarantee debts because the vagaries of life can stop our generosity and make our good intentions feel guilty.
