Topic: “The Birth of the Lord Jesus Christ”
Text: Luke 1:46-56
46. And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord, 47. And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48. Because he has looked upon the lowliness of his handmaid. For, behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed, 49. Because the Almighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name, 50. And his mercy is from generation to generation On those who fear him. 51. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52. He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. 53. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. 54. He has helped his servant Israel, and has remembered his mercy, 55. As he spoke to our fathers, -To Abraham and his descendants forever. 56. Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months. Then she returned home.
Let us remember:
When the angel came to announce the good news that Mary was God's choice to bear the savior of the world; as soon as the angel left her, she got up and went to visit Elizabeth to testify to this extraordinary grace. Instead of staying in her corner to see how things would happen, she thought to glorify God. We are in a time when God rarely revealed himself to non-prophetic women. Mary did not think that it was only a mirage, a vision of the mind, a dream, a vague thought or a vision. She believed that the angel was true. She then went to proclaim the good news. Mary went in haste to the mountains, to a city of Judah. Far from her own city, only to tell what she had experienced and to verify what Elizabeth would have experienced. This is the story of two women who change the lives of all generations because their obedience allowed the installation of God's plan for the salvation of humanity. Before Elizabeth, Mary proclaimed the greatness of God. She displayed an anthology of praise and adoration to God because he looked at her baseness. Mary took the time to adore God before Elizabeth. She showed all her gratitude to God; something that we almost never do. We forget to celebrate God when he works wonders in our lives. Even when they are miracles, we prefer to make people believe that it is a merit, the result of our efforts, of our intelligence. Let us praise and adore God for having given us Jesus. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
