Theme: “Shout out for joy”
Text: Psalms 118:23-26
23. This is from the LORD: it is a marvel in our eyes. 24. This is the day that the LORD has made: let us be glad and glad in it! 25. O LORD, grant salvation! O LORD, give prosperity! 26. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD! We bless you from the house of the Lord.
Let's remember:
This psalm, like several others, is a true spiritual gem, a true bank of joy. David recounts several victories that he concedes to God. This psalm is a real gold mine which must draw out our cries of joy. No one should resist after reading it, without letting out a cry of joy. David remembers his days of triumph for himself and for Israel. There he dwells on his victorious past and valiantly concludes that: “his mercy endures forever.” Further in this psalm he brings back the thought of his distresses, when his enemies overwhelmed him; he said, “Out of trouble I called upon the LORD: the LORD heard me, and set me free. The LORD is for me, I will not fear: what can men do to me? The LORD is my help, and I rejoice in the sight of my enemies. It is better to seek refuge in the LORD Than to trust in man.” The psalmist knows what he is talking about. His heart is filled with gratitude to his God. We too, Let us shout for joy because God does us excellently good. The Lord is our strength and the subject of our praise; He's the one who saved us. Let us shout for joy because the Lord manifests his power. It is this psalm that tells us: “I will not die, but will live, And I will declare the works of the Lord.” When we wake up, let us shout for joy and say: This is the day that the Lord has made: let us be glad and glad in it. Have a great Thursday. Amen
