Shout out for joy

Wednesday March 20, 2024

Theme: “Shout out for joy

Text: Psalms 16:7-9

7. I bless the LORD my counselor; Even at night my heart exhorts me. 8. I have the LORD always before my eyes; When he is on my right, I do not waver. 9. Also my heart rejoices, my spirit rejoices, and my body rests in safety.

Let's remember:

There are reasons why we cry out with joy. The joy that we express is the perfect manifestation of a feeling of pleasure, of intense happiness, characterized by its fullness and its unlimited duration. We experience this joy because God takes charge of our aspirations and gives us the breath of life, success, salvation, peace, in short love for his innumerable benefits. In this hymn, David presents God as his Advisor. We understand that David could not do anything without consulting the Lord God. He received his instructions and put them into practice. David’s heart mulled over God’s counsel and  urged David to do God’s will. This complicity meant that David constantly had the Lord before his eyes. His heart being filled with divine counsel. David did not waver when God was at his right hand, that means when he was doing the will of God. But when he put God at the cathode, he was in tears, he failed, he fled before his enemy. David had understood the secret of success, that of having God as his Advisor. This was the object of the joy of his heart and the gladness of his spirit; his body lay safe. Have a great Wednesday. Amen
