Shout out for joy

Tuesday March 19, 2024

Theme: “Shout out for joy

Text: Psalms 9:2-3

(9:2) I will praise the LORD with all my heart, I will tell of all your wonderful works. 2. (9:3) I will make you the subject of my joy and my gladness, I will sing your name, O Most High God!

Let's remember:

David composed Psalm 9 after Israel won a victory over the neighboring nations. Anyone who has ever had struggles in life knows this; Coming out of a fight brings a great sigh of relief. It’s like we’re coming out of an abyss. It’s as if we had our hands and feet tied and then suddenly we break these ties. Hope returns at a gallop and joy overflows. As we know that we have a Lord who trains our hands in battle and our fingers in battle; let's tell him our gratitude and our deep joy. It’s time to shout for joy. David sang of his joy, saying, “I will praise the LORD with all my heart, I will tell of all your wonderful works. I will make you the subject of my joy and gladness, I will sing your name, O Most High God”. Let us take the time to review the old images of our enemies who retreat, who falter, who perish before the face of God. Yes, it is God who fights for us. Our enemies see his power through us. They are confused and don't understand where our resistance comes from? We ourselves know that it is God who takes charge of our visible and invisible struggles. So let us sing with joy the glory of the Lord. Have a great Tuesday of joy. Amen
