Theme: “Prepare yourself to meet the Lord”
Text: John 1:19-23
19. This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you? 20. He declared, and did not deny it, he declared that he was not the Christ. 21. And they asked him: What then? are you Elijah? And he said: I am not. Are you the prophet? And he answered: No. 22. Then they said to him, Who are you? so that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself? 23. I, he said, am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as Isaiah the prophet said.
Let's remember:
As people still ask themselves today a thousand and one questions about the coming of the Lord; in the time of John the Baptist, it was even more accentuated. Moreover, Luke 3:15 tells us quite well: “And as the people waited, and all reasoned in their hearts concerning John whether he should not be the Christ.” The Jews only took advantage of the people's recurring questions to seek the answer to this problem. During the previous four centuries, no other prophet had risen with as much zeal, discipline, assiduity, and assurance as John the Baptist did. We too, do like him and talk about the arrival of the Lord. Let us stand up and spread the good news; let us prepare to welcome him into our hearts; let us also prepare our next one to do the same. Let us be zealous, disciplined, diligent and be sure that Jesus will not delay. Let us be the voice of God, who announces the imminent arrival of the Lord and help the people to enjoy the reign of Jesus the Christ; Let us thus prepare his path. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
