Let us be clothed in humility

Thursday February 22, 2024

Theme: “Let us be clothed in humility

Text: Mark 10:41-45

41. The ten, having heard this, began to be indignant against James and John. 42. Jesus called them and said to them, You know that those who are considered rulers of the nations tyrannize over them, and that the great ones lord it over them. 43. It is not the same among you. But whoever wants to be great among you, let him be your servant; 44. and whoever wants to be first among you, let him be slave of all. 45. For the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Let's remember:

Being more powerful than others is only vanity but also a view of the mind. It happens in the person's head but it doesn't rhyme with anything. Being stronger, smarter, bigger, should not be our leitmotif because the biggest can tumble to become the smallest. It is more important to be humble and modest. When the heart rises, it gives way to pride. Likewise, jealousy easily takes hold of those around us and the fraternal climate disappears to give way to distrust. Let us be clothed in humility and not pride. Let us be of service to others instead of wanting to command our neighbor. Being the head of a nation does not mean that you are the most intelligent in the entire nation, otherwise there would be no need for advisors. Wanting to rise above others leads to tyranny and sometimes abuse. Who drank will drink. Wanting to hang on to glory gives you the ideas of not letting go but of hanging on at all costs. Humans like to gain the upper hand over others. The Christian must not be like those who seek vain glory. He must promote humility instead of trying to impose himself as superior to others. Have a great Thursday. Amen
