Theme: “Let us be clothed in humility”
Text: Matthew 11:29
29. Take my yoke upon you and receive my instruction, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.
Let's remember:
Only Jesus is capable of bringing together the yoke and rest which are diametrically opposed in practice. He who wears the natural yoke cannot have rest. However, the spiritual yoke of Jesus, modeled on his obedience, makes us resemble him in terms of humility and independence in the face of sin. The yoke is the image of submission, of obedience. Jesus gives us relief and rest. Jesus is humble because he did not want to snatch the glory from the Father. He was content with his place as Son even though in Him there is the Father. What Jesus did, when he performed miracles or during his teachings, when people came to praise him, he showed them the Father, to whom the glory is due. It is Jesus who is the miracle worker but he points to the Father. John 10:32. “Jesus said unto them, I have shewed you many good works of my Father: for which of these do ye stone me? ". To take up the yoke is to learn from him, not only to be taught by his word, but to imitate his example, to live in accordance with his life. He who is humble does not question the guidance of his Lord since it is restful and gentle. Carrying the yoke of Jesus should be a reason for joy even if we shed tears because of tribulations; you have to hold on because the reward is great. No one should take away from us this subject of glory which consists of living the humility of Jesus. It is only the life of obedience that will help us to resemble Him and bring His joy. The much sought-after rest is only found in Jesus Christ, the model of humility. By leading a life of humility modeled on that of Jesus, nothing will be the same again. We will have rest for our souls, peace of mind, joy of life, sanctification, hope of salvation, love of neighbor. Let us enter the school of humility of which Jesus Christ is the instructor and the perfect model that we must follow. Have a great Wednesday. Amen
