Theme: “Let us be clothed in humility”
Text: Luke 22:24-27
24. There arose also among the apostles a dispute, which of them should be esteemed the greatest? 25. Jesus said to them: The kings of the nations rule over them, and those who rule over them are called doers. 26. Let it not be the same for you. But let the greatest among you be as the least, and the one who rules as one who serves. 27. For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Isn’t that the one at the table? And I, however, am among you as one who serves.
Let's remember:
Humility is the feeling of one's own inadequacy which pushes one to repress any movement of pride. It is the humble, modest character (of human nature, or of a social condition). Humility is modesty, smallness, modesty, simplicity or even self-effacement. Humility is the inability to rise above others to tame them. It is therefore the ability to value one's neighbor and give them ancestry. Our life must be a humble offering, yes, a modest offering. We must always and always offer our assistance to the smooth running of things, whatever the areas. Humility must push us to see everyone as a target to love, to serve, to support, to bless. Even when we notice that the person surpasses us in the area in which we want to help them, we nevertheless make our modest contribution; even if it is refused. Let us not seek to command others, let us not seek the vain glory of rising above others. Let us be servants and not want to be served. When the heart exalts itself higher than God's expectations, it is called pride. The opposite of humility is arrogance, audacity, insolence, pride, pretension, self-importance, superiority, vanity. May everything that leads away from humility be banished from our lives. Let us have a life centered on humility like that of Jesus who served his disciples. Have a great Monday. Amen
