Theme: “Let’s be generous”
Text: Leviticus 25:35-36
35. If your brother becomes poor, and his hand falters near you, you will support him; you shall do the same for the foreigner who dwells in the land, so that he may live with you. 36. You shall not take interest or usury from him; you shall fear your God, and your brother shall live with you.
Let's remember:
Being generous is a call from God to his offspring. God is generous as he graciously gives us intelligence, wisdom, the breath of life, eating, drinking, clothing, gifts and ministries. God gives us very noble favors without expecting anything in return. He does the same to those who do not recognize his authority. He makes his sun shine on both the righteous and the ungodly. He is our point of reference so that we may be like him. To respond to the love of God, if our brother becomes poor, and his hand falters near us, then we must support him; we must do the same for the foreigner who remains in the land, so that he may live with us. Even if this brother had a lot of wealth that he mismanaged, even if he disdained us when he had wealth, even if he had stolen our wealth to monopolize it, even if he gave us back our lives difficult, the day he comes to bend before us, let's go to his aid. Let's be generous with him. Let's forget all the past. Let us make love of our neighbor prevail and be generous towards them. He who is generous no longer remembers the faults of his neighbor, he only helps without giving moral lessons. Being generous consists of giving without counting and without interest. Just as God expects no interest from what he gives to us, we too do not expect any interest from what we give to others. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
