Theme : “ He Ascended to Heaven ”
Text : John 3:14-15
14. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of man be lifted up, 15. that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
Let's remember:
Salvation comes from heaven, the dwelling place of God. It is not by gazing at earthly creatures that one arrives at salvation, at success, at obedience to God, at sanctification. Looking down on the ground brings only desolation. The lower world is made of dust; and whoever drags his feet in the dust falls prey to the serpent the devil. God had purposed that the serpent would feed on the dust (Genesis 3:14); but the primary nature of man is dust. Thus, an unregenerate person is prey to the serpent; she will be bitten by it. The only solution would come from the change of mentality by choosing to raise the eyes towards the sky; to look at the serpent of brass which is a type of Christ. God in raising his Son to the cross exercised the redemption, the atonement, the reparation of the sin that humanity bore by living far from Christ. Henceforth worship was lifted up to God in heaven; Jesus Christ is the worship that connects us, connects us to the Father in order to receive the eternal life buried in Him. Then Christ was lifted higher than the cross. He ascended to heaven to resume his favorite place; whence he intercedes for us who lift up our eyes to heaven. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
