Theme : “ God and Our Properties ”
Text : Matthew 27:57-66
57. When evening came, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who was also a disciple of Jesus. 58. He went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. And Pilate ordered it to be put back. 59. Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a white shroud, 60. and laid it in a new sepulcher, which he had had hewn out of the rock. Then he rolled away a large stone at the entrance to the sepulchre, and he departed. 61. Mary of Magdala and the other Mary were there, seated opposite the sepulchre. 62. The next day, which was the day after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees went together to Pilate, 63. and said, Lord, we remember that this impostor said, when he was still living, After three days I will resurrect. 64. Command therefore that the sepulcher be guarded until the third day, lest his disciples come and steal the body, and say to the people, He is risen from the dead. This last imposture would be worse than the first.
Let's remember:
Properties are not only material. An address book well stocked with good relations is a source of wealth and therefore a precious asset. The disciple Joseph had used his relationship with Pilate to retrieve Jesus' body and give it a decent burial. Each faithful must use his relationships to unblock the difficult situations that arise in the community. Joseph had not waited to consult the parents of Jesus before carrying out the steps for the burial. He committed himself and even incurred expenses going so far as to use his valuables such as the new sepulchre. He did not ask for reimbursement. Let's not wait for someone to come to us before making donations and legacies. Our properties must be used to help our neighbour, our families, our congregations. With our properties, let us help the work of God to function better, that is a sacrifice of a pleasant odor to the Eternal. With our properties, let us help the workers of God to lead a serene life. If God gives us properties, it is to make good use of them. Excellent Tuesday of liberality. Amen Alain Louz.-
