Theme : “ God and Our possessions ”
Text : Ezekiel 7:19-20
19. They will throw their silver into the streets, And their gold will be an object of horror to them; Their silver and their gold cannot save them in the day of the Lord's wrath; They will not be able to satiate their soul, Nor fill their entrails; For that is what caused them to fall in their iniquity. 20. They were proud of their magnificent adornment, And they made of it the images of their abominations, of their idols. That is why I will make her an object of horror for them;
Let's remember:
If we place more importance on our possessions, we will incur the wrath of God and thus our destruction will be assured. In this text, God strikes in a sudden and severe way all the people who had put the confidence in their possessions. This announced end is imminent and certain because the Lord has long warned his people not to deify possessions. God's compassion will cease and his wrath will take over to punish those who make their possessions an object of worship. It is time to change the use of our assets. It is time to change the way of seeing things: let us no longer be at the service of our properties but let the properties be at our service. If we do the opposite, possessions will become a god.
