Divine Wisdom

Friday April 19, 2024

Theme: “Divine Wisdom

Text: 1 Corinthians 1:19-25

19. Also it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will destroy the understanding of the intelligent. 20. Where is the wise man? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this century? Has not God convinced the wisdom of the world of folly? 21. For since the world in its wisdom did not know God in the wisdom of God, it pleased God to save those who believe through the foolishness of preaching. 22. The Jews ask for miracles, and the Greeks seek wisdom: 23. we preach Christ crucified; scandal to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles, 24. but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Let's remember:

Worldly wisdom vs divine wisdom. Wisdom remains wisdom, it is a provision of God. What is relevant is the use we make of it. God endows humanity with his wisdom. Those who use it well rank themselves on the side of divine wisdom. Those who do not know God or who misuse wisdom are ranked among the wisdom of the world. But the Lord God will destroy the wisdom of the wise, he will destroy the understanding of the intelligent. When wisdom is used for carnal vanity, it becomes the wisdom of the world and God can no longer preserve it from evil. This is why several wise men of this century disappear under the helpless gaze of their contemporaries. God has convinced the wisdom of the world of folly because the world, with its wisdom, did not know God despite its wisdom. This is where God changed his mode of action through the preaching of the cross. Yes, it pleased God to save believers through the foolishness of preaching. Whoever wants to acquire divine wisdom must drink from God, the source that never runs dry. With Him, wisdom flows like a torrent that overflows its banks. While young people drown in social networks in search of success, while Jews ask for miracles, while Greeks seek wisdom: we Christians preach Christ crucified; scandal for the Jews and madness for the pagans. Divine wisdom is the power of God to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
