Communion is also the sharing of property

Wednesday March 22, 2023

Theme: “Communion is also the sharing of property Text: Acts 4:34-37

34. For there was none among them needy: all that had fields or houses sold them, brought the price of what they had sold, 35. and laid it at the feet of the apostles; and distributions were made to each according to his need. 36. Joseph, surnamed by the apostles Barnabas, which means son of exhortation, a Levite, a native of Cyprus, 37. sold a field which he owned, brought the money, and laid it at the feet of the apostles.

Let's remember:

When a person dispenses peace, justice, harmony and all that is similar, he becomes a reference because he reassures. The apostles did their job so well that they had become moral authorities. The power to do justice had fallen to them. They were like judges or notaries in that they could enforce fairness and legality with transparency. Currently, if you want to sell a property legitimately, you use a notary. Now the people loved God so much that they decided to trust their servants, the apostles. Are there still people you can confide in to share out a group's assets? Certainly yes. Communion is stable when there are trustworthy people who can guarantee moral probity. Communion must be nurtured and maintained by leaders who work for the good stewardship of the commons. It takes impartiality. But if there are misappropriations of public goods, communion crumbles; people will no longer contribute to the social balance of the group. Then, individualism will return at a gallop without warning. Leaders must reassure the people in the management of their property. Excellent Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
