Theme: “Breaking the good news to the authorities”
Text: Acts 24:24-26
24. A few days later, Felix came with Drusille, his wife, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul. He heard it about faith in Christ. 25. But as Paul was disputing about righteousness, about temperance, and about the judgment to come, Felix, being afraid, said: For the moment withdraw yourself; When I find the opportunity, I will call you back. 26. He hoped at the same time that Paul would give him money; so he sent for him quite frequently to talk with him.
Let's remember:
We must proclaim the Word of God to the authorities so that they will be strengthened and the fear of God will fill their hearts. The thoughts of an authority must be pure because they contribute to good decision-making. Now, Felix had opened the door to corruption and he was waiting for Paul to bring him money to bribe him. Curiously, to this day, this obscure thought of corruption is still relevant and is not ready to disappear. Glory to the Lord who put the subject of righteousness exactly in Paul's mouth. God knows well the needs of every soul that is in disarray; he targets them and sends a servant who would carry the message that would fill said need. Paul was disputing about righteousness, about temperance, and about the judgment to come, Felix, being afraid, said, “For the moment withdraw.” Every evildoer is aware of his sin, he suffers when we press where the bottom hurts. This is because there is a lack of people who must reframe the authorities in their decision-making; that they sink deeper into corruption and stay there. Let us speak courageously to every person with a shred of responsibility so that justice, temperance, and the coming judgment are understood and integrated into their lives. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
