Be happy

Friday February 2, 2024

Theme: “Be happy

Text: Matthew 5:1-6

1. Seeing the crowd, Jesus went up into the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2. Then he opened his mouth and taught them, and said, 3. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4. Blessed are the afflicted, for they will be comforted! 5. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth! 6. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied!

Let's remember:

It is by uniting our heart to that of God that we will be happy. If we agree with Jesus and agree to live according to his precepts, we will always be happy. Being happy should not depend on present circumstances but on the assurance of having the secrets of the wonderful life hidden in Christ. Once hidden, Jesus ended up revealing the secrets of a happy life, a fulfilled and prosperous life based on the beatitudes. This is why each person must learn the fundamentals and put them into practice in order to live happily. According to the teachings that Jesus gives us, it is the poor in spirit who are happy because the kingdom of heaven is theirs. The poor in spirit are people who bend inwardly, who submit completely to God to draw their strength from him. The afflicted also must be happy because they will be comforted. The word “afflicted” comes from the Greek pentheo and literally means “to be in mourning”, “to mourn a dead person”. The first meaning of this expression concerns those who are bereaved mourning the death of a loved one. To be happy, you must be good-natured: it is a person who is characterized by great kindness, a tendency to be favorable and helpful to others, synonymous with benevolent, good, generous. The meek are happy because they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who provide justice, who denounce injustice, for they will be satisfied. Being happy does not require superhuman actions, but imitating Jesus in everyday life. Excellent weekend starter. Amen
