A Savior is born to us

Monday December 25, 2023

Theme: “A Savior is born to us

Text: Luke 2:1-7

1. At that time there appeared an edict from Caesar Augustus, ordering a census of the whole earth. 2. This first census took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3. Everyone was going to register, each in their city. 4. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, 5. to to register with Marie, his fiancée, who was pregnant. 6. While they were there, the time came for Mary to give birth, 7. and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She swaddled him, and put him to bed in a crib, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Let's remember:

Jesus our Savior did not have his place in a hotel but in the nursery yes. Our Savior was born with lessons and teachings that should challenge us in terms of humility. A Savior is born to us; he came under inexplicable conditions which no human intelligence can understand. Jesus was not born of human parentage rebellious to the law of the land. Joseph and Mary obeyed the order to register for the census as did the entire population. When we bear a promise from God, we must be very obedient in order to see said promise fulfilled. Pregnant Mary agreed to travel from Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem in Judea. At the time there were no buses, no planes, in short, no mode of transport suitable for a primigravida and primiparous pregnant woman. Exegetes say that it was a journey of 140 km, a walk of several days. But that did not prevent their movement since God's promise should be fulfilled, a Savior should be born there. In this world, there is no place for Jesus. At birth there was no place for Him, during His ministry He was cast out, in our hearts there is no place and He knocks at the door of the heart. The only place that humans gave to Jesus was the cross, an indisputable place that was his. Let us make a place for our Savior; let us be hospitable. Have a great Monday. AmenAlain Louz.-
