Theme: "The Transforming Power of the Gospel."
Text: James 1:22-25
22. Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror, 24. and when he has looked at himself, he goes his way and immediately forgets who he was. 25. But he who looks intently into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, not being a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
Remember:
A misunderstanding of the Gospel leads us to false reasoning that is devoid of biblical foundations. This is what is at the root of the creation of sects and other religious brotherhoods. An error in interpreting the Gospel can be fatal for our faith, for our community or even for our whole life. The future can be mortgaged by a misunderstanding of the Gospel. This is why we do not feel the transforming power of the Gospel. It is advisable to live faith in community in order to support each other. No one has the innate knowledge of the Gospel. The voice of the Spirit of God must guide us on the path of truth. We must put the Gospel into practice without distorting it. We must not twist the meaning of the Gospel to benefit our petty interests. Limiting ourselves to reading or listening to the Gospel is half the way of the Christian life. The end result is putting it into practice from start to finish. Do we want to live the transforming power of the Gospel and be happy about it? Let us not limit ourselves to listening only but let us move forward towards putting it into practice. Let us go without hesitation even if there are some fumblings, let us not admit defeat because the devil fights our obedience to the Gospel by making us vulnerable. Let us learn from our past mistakes and try again until we cross over to successful practice. May our social environment not hinder us from putting the Gospel into practice. The mockery and hostility of the pagans must motivate us to understand that we have made an informed choice. Even if we do not remember the numbers of the chapters and verses, as long as we understand them, let us practice them. Excellent Wednesday. Amen
