Theme : " Pay your debts, you will make yourself a lever for enrichment "
Text : 2 Kings 6: 1-7
1. The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, Behold, the place where we are sitting before you is too narrow for us. 2. Let us go to the Jordan; we will each take a beam there, and we will make ourselves a dwelling place. Elisha replied: Go. 3. And one of them said, Consent to come with thy servants. He replied: I will go. 4. So he went with them. When they got to the Jordan, they chopped wood. 5. And as one of them was knocking down a beam, the iron fell into the water. He cried out: Ah! my lord, it was borrowed! 6. The man of God said: Where has he fallen? And he showed her the place. Then Elisha cut a piece of wood, threw it in the same place, and floated the iron. 7. Then he said: Take him away! And he put out his hand and took it.
Let us remember :
Debts also include borrowings of any objects and tools. If our neighbor lends us his bag, his machete, his pot, his tire ... let us take it to heart to return it in good condition. Borrowing is not only about money, but any object that our neighbor gives us for a moment as a payday. Many minimize certain borrowing by judging the value of borrowed items. They say to themselves it is so insignificant that leaving to restore is not necessary. Let us know that this undermines our moral probity while demonstrating our bad faith. It is a clear sign of ingratitude tinged with fraud. When the loss or breakage of a third party's object occurs, we must pay for it unless the owner advises otherwise. Excellent Thursday.
