Theme: “Family Motivated to Serve the Lord.”
Text: Exodus 23:24-25
24. You shall not bow down to their gods or serve them; you shall not follow their ways, but you shall destroy them and break their images. 25. You shall serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from you.
Let us remember:
When you are a family that shows the fear of God, especially when you are motivated to serve the Lord, it is not possible to go and play in the enemy’s camp and feel comfortable. The members of such a family know the code that must be practiced to remain pleasing to God. One of the things that God hates is to see his children go and bow down before a creature. This is pure idolatry. We should only bow down to the Creator. However, we bow down to money, success, possessions, promotions, technology, wife or husband… We sometimes betray our faith just to gain a professional ladder. We are told not to bend our knees before any idol even if it is made of gold or diamond, it does not matter. In fact, a family seriously motivated to serve God can never bow down to the deities. It cannot serve them; it can never imitate the pagan peoples in their scabrous conduct. On the contrary, it must break and destroy their gods and statues. We must never make alliances that would compromise our Christian faith. Christians are not accustomed to bow down before the Lord. Let us learn to do so to value our God and our faith. Thus we will reach the stature of a family motivated to serve the Lord. We will no longer be able to bow down before mute idols. Have a great Thursday. Amen.
