Theme: “Your sins have separated you from God”
Text: Ephesians 2:12-13
12. Remember that at that time you were without Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Let us remember:
Before receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior, man lives in a natural condition far from God, he is devoid of security and salvation. He is without God, therefore in a vulnerable and precarious state. He delights in sin. In meeting Jesus Christ, a new life is solemnly established. In the past, we lived like savages; and now, we are saved and become mature by the grace of God. So, let us hope that the old things are forever relegated to oblivion. A person who is in Christ becomes a new creature, all things are new because the old things become obsolete, useless, old, indigestible and inappropriate. Having become children of God, will we have to continue to lead our old life? Do we have any reason to go back and eat again what we have vomited? No! The sin that separated us from God must be banished. The new covenant of promise requires a life of holiness so as to no longer be separated from God. Even if, in our days, sin becomes commonplace to commit, let us refuse this way of life. Now, in Jesus Christ, we who were once far away, have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Thanks to sanctification, we are no longer deprived of the right of citizenship, we are no longer strangers to the covenants of promise, we are full of hope in God. The new covenant has brought us closer to God when sin had distanced us. Excellent Saturday. Amen
