Theme: “Your offering is an act of faith that speaks in your favor”
Text: Luke 6:36-38
36. Therefore be merciful, as your Father is merciful. 37. Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; absolve, and you will be absolved. 38. Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure will be poured into your bosom, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing; for with the measure you use you will be measured.
Let's remember:
Forgiveness is an offering. It is an act of love which consists of not considering and forgetting the harm suffered. We offer or grant forgiveness out of love for our neighbor. Likewise, mercy is an offering, an act of generosity and grace. It is God who teaches us to make an offering of forgiveness and mercy to our neighbor; as he made the offering of Jesus to the world. If we offer forgiveness, the same will be done to us. When we forgive others, we also receive forgiveness from others. God forgives us in proportion to the forgiveness we give to others. It is not the forgiveness we receive from others that touches the heart of God, it is the forgiveness we offer as an offering to others. He who knows how to pity others by showing them mercy, God and even his neighbor always returns it to him: it is the return of the favor. Let us not be stingy with forgiveness in order to expect others to forgive us in return. The good we do is often returned to us. Let's avoid paying our neighbor in monkey money. Let us give, and it will be given to us: a good measure will be poured into our bosom, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing; for with the measure we use we will be measured.
