You shall not speak false witness against your neighbor

Sunday May 26, 2024

Theme: “You shall not speak false witness against your neighbor

Text: Matthew 26:59-62

59. The chief priests and all the Sanhedrin sought some false testimony against Jesus, sufficient to put him to death. 60. But they found none, although many false witnesses appeared. Finally there came two, who said: 61. This one said: I can destroy the temple of God, and build it in three days. 62. And the high priest stood up and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? What are these men filing against you?

Let's remember:

Beloved, the devil and his servants will always come and rummage in our lives to catch us at fault and accuse us before God or those who would be capable of persecuting us. As for Jesus, they found nothing to reproach him for because his holiness pleaded in his favor, even if several false witnesses had presented themselves. This is the typical example of a life approved by God and remaining under his protection. As for us, let us make every effort and ask for the strength and grace of God so that we are preserved from potential bad actions. Let us strengthen ourselves and seek comfort from the Holy Spirit so that he can teach us how to fear God and remain faithful to his Word. When the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin seek some false testimony against us, sufficient to humiliate us: let them not find any, although many false witnesses present themselves. Two witnesses said, This one said, I can destroy the temple of God, and build it in three days. This testimony is not an accusation because Jesus fulfilled this truth of destroying the temple which is his body (dying) and rebuilt it in three days, symbol of resurrection. Have a great Sunday. Amen
