Theme: “You shall not speak false witness against your neighbor”
Text: Exodus 23:1-2
1. You shall not spread false rumor. You shall not join with the wicked to bear false witness. 2. Thou shalt not follow the multitude to do evil; and you shall not give evidence in a trial by siding with the many, to violate justice.
Let's remember:
False testimony is untruthful testimony given in front of one or more people. It is a statement that can be heard, read, seen or otherwise communicated. This offense is punishable by five years of imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros in France. False testimony is an obstruction of the exercise of justice. It is repressed by law. It is very close to misrepresentation or defamation. The Christian must not spread false rumor. He must not join with the wicked in giving false testimony. This coalition is the joy of the devil and his demons. However, false testimony grieves the Spirit of God and renders it ineffective. Whatever the cause, it is not good to give false testimony because it discredits the accused or the victim. God's children are dependent on the truth and nothing but the truth. It is better to be punished for telling the truth than to be appreciated for giving false testimony. Every time we give false testimony, there is a good chance that it will be returned to us because God is a God of justice. We must live away from all kinds of evil. The group effect can encourage us to give false testimony. Therefore let us not follow the many to do evil; and let us not testify in a trial by putting ourselves on the side of the many, to violate justice. Have a great Monday. Amen
