Theme: “You can succeed if you keep your heart right before God

Text: Psalms 1:1-6

1. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of mockers. 2. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law he meditates day and night. 3. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither; in all that he does, it prospers. 4. But the wicked are not so; they are like the chaff that the wind drives away. 5. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the day of judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of sinners leads to destruction.

Remember:

You can succeed if you keep your heart straight before God. To keep your heart straight before God, you must learn not to walk according to the advice of the wicked at the risk of becoming perverted. You must also avoid stopping on the path of sinners, so as not to be like them. You must not sit in the company of mockers, so as not to become one of them. He who keeps his heart straight before God is the one who finds his delight in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on it day and night. Such a person succeeds. He is like a tree planted by a stream of water, which lives under the sweet coolness of its God. It yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; everything he does prospers for him. However, a person who does not keep his heart straight before God is like the chaff that the wind scatters. It does not resist the day of judgment, just like sinners in the assembly of the righteous. Its foliage withers easily because of its dryness being far from God who is the source of water that never dries up. Success and achievement obey God the creator of the universe. It is He who commands success to follow those who have a right heart before Him. But ruin surprises those who have a heart turned away and far from God. It is possible to have a right heart before God, if we put his Word into practice. Excellent Sunday. Amen
