Theme: “Worship that pleases the Lord" Text: Hosea 6:6

6. For I love godliness and not sacrifices, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Let's remember:

Piety (devotion, fervor, affection, love, respect, obedience) is in itself already a whole cult rendered to God. We define worship as admiration mixed with obedience and reverence for God, so godliness helps us stay in the center of worship. Piety is a virtue which disposes to render to God the honor due to him by outward acts of faith. It is a deferential, respectful affection. However, the sacrifices can be offered by mimicry, by enthusiasm or for vainglory. But we can worship his sacrifice if we offer it with a willing heart in love with God. The sacrifice of Jesus is a worship rendered to his Father. The sacrifice made with piety becomes worship. Let's go to the school of God so that his Spirit teaches us his life in order to know him better. Knowledge is better than burnt offerings. Knowledge implies understanding and therefore reverence. For want of knowledge, the people of God perish in the abyss of sin. But with knowledge, one offers better worship to God. Excellent Friday and good start into the weekend. Amen Alain Louz.-
