Theme: “With Jesus Christ, let us move from mediocrity to excellence” Text: 1 Peter 2:9-12
9. You, on the contrary, are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, an acquired people, that you may proclaim the virtues of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light, 10. you who of old were not a people, and now are the people of God, you who had not obtained mercy, and who now have obtained mercy. 11. Beloved, I exhort you, as strangers and travelers on earth, to abstain from carnal lusts which wage war against the soul. 12. Be good conduct among the Gentiles, so that even where they slander you as if you were evildoers, they may notice your good works and glorify God in the day when he visits them.
Let's remember:
Let us abstain from carnal lusts which wage war against the soul. They make us supporters of mediocrity. This mediocre attitude will cause us to remain far from divine help. We were not a people and we were doomed to mediocrity because we lacked a savior and a Lord capable of taking charge of our salvation. God, being full of grace, provided for our error by providing us with a savior, in the person of Jesus Christ. From now on, we have every reason to move towards excellence because our Lord is the author of excellence. So we have passed from darkness to his admirable light. We are now a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a acquired people, that we may proclaim the virtues of him who saved us. To be a chosen race is to be part of excellence. Being a royal priesthood also means being in excellence. To be a holy nation is to be in excellence. To be an acquired people is just as much to be in excellence. To be part of those who announce the virtues of Jesus Christ is still to be in excellence. Excellence is in Jesus. He is the light of the world, as such he also makes us light. But light is excellence and darkness is mediocrity. So we are in excellence because we are the light. Strongly, let us remain in the light so as not to be mediocre. May everyone spend the month of October in excellence. Amen Alain Louz.-
