Theme: “Widows in Action Text: Luke 2:36-38

36. There was also a prophetess, Anna, daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very advanced in years, and she had lived seven years with her husband since his virginity. 37. Remained a widow, and eighty-four years old, she did not leave the temple, and she served God night and day in fasting and in prayer. 38. Having also come, at this same hour, she was praising God, and she was speaking of Jesus to all those who awaited deliverance from Jerusalem.

Let's remember:

This widow evangelist is a widow in action. She did not remain inactive after the death of her husband. Already she had married at a very advanced age; just seven years later, God called her husband back to Him. It would be a matter of great consternation, and yet the widow chose to move on and, not least. She chose to become an evangelist to speak about Jesus and the kingdom of God to those who were waiting for the deliverance of Israel. Yes, a widow can become an evangelist. It is a very exemplary attitude but above all very particular. The action of evangelizing is a public action that requires a lot of courage and consecration. You have to go out in front of the crowds and speak to an audience, in a civilization where women, even widows, had no right to speak in front of men. This widow removed these barriers and defied the taboos of society. She was neither ashamed nor afraid of the consequences. She is a top model of faith and commitment to the priestly work of Christ. This widow had a peculiarity prior to this engagement; she had kept her virginity for a very long time before getting married. This is characteristic of a commitment. As if to say, this widow knew how to devote herself to each area with firmness. From now on, the world will remember that widowhood is not an obstacle to mass evangelism. We can just take away the shame, the fear, the contempt, the worries in order to take on the Spirit of God and move the machine of the gospel forward. Excellent Saturday. Amen Alain Louz.-
