Who shall we serve in the world?

Theme: “Who shall we serve in the world? Text: Deuteronomy 10:12-13

12. Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, except that you fear the LORD your God, that you may walk in all his ways, and love and serve the LORD? your God with all your heart and with all your soul; 13. except that you observe the commandments of the LORD and his statutes which I command you this day, that you may be happy?

Let's remember:

The instruction is firm and our obedience is required: we must serve the Eternal God. Serving God is the right thing to do, but that is not enough; we must first fear him because fear is due to him. To serve the Lord is also to walk in his ways. We must not follow iniquitous and perverse ways. Our feet must be able to follow only one way, that of God. We are given the injunction to serve God, with all our heart and with all our soul. Our heart should not be subject to a mishmash of love. We must only love the Eternal God. To claim to serve God, we must keep all his commandments and laws. A promise is attached to this obedience, because it is said that by doing it, we will have success in our endeavors and we will be happy. To serve the Lord is to obey the command given by Joshua 1:8. “Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, to act faithfully according to all that is written therein; because it is then that you will be successful in your undertakings, it is then that you will succeed”. There is a lot of happiness in serving God and therefore in being faithful to Him from start to finish. Let us therefore find pleasure in serving God. Excellent Thursday in the service of God. Amen Alain Louz.-
