Theme: “Who shall we serve in the world? Text: Exodus 10:24-26

24. Pharaoh called Moses, and said, Go, serve the LORD. Only your sheep and oxen will be left, and your children can go with you. 25. Moses answered, You yourself shall put into our hands the sacrifices and the burnt offerings which we shall offer to the LORD our God. 26. Our flocks will go with us, and not a fingernail will remain; for there we shall take to serve the LORD our God; and until we arrive, we do not know what we will choose to offer to the Lord.

Let's remember:

Who shall we serve in the world? The answer to this question is very short: God. Exodus 20:5. “You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me”. It is a clear, unequivocal and unamended answer. There should be no ambiguity on the understanding of this answer which is intended to be clear. To serve God is to discharge obligations, tasks towards Him, by motive of obedience. Serving God is not optional. It is even a divine order that we must restore because it has lost its luster. Pharaoh wanted to prohibit the children of Israel from going to serve their God, he had on his behalf a host of plagues that never ended. He tried to negotiate but without success. God's ways are not Pharaoh's ways; those of God succeed while those of Pharaoh fail on the shores of the Red Sea. Nothing and no one should forbid us to serve God. No matter the price, we must continue to serve God into eternity. Serving God should not be a chore but rather a response to his love for us; translated as the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. No pharaoh should oppose our freedom to serve God. Do not serve God out of defiance, opportunism, idleness or competition; but let us go with docility and lucidity overloaded with love. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
