Theme: “We are set apart for God”
Text: John 17:14-18
14. I have given them your word; and the world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15. I do not ask you to remove them from the world, but to preserve them from evil. 16. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17. Sanctify them by your truth: your word is truth. 18. As you sent me into the world, so have I sent them into the world.
Let's remember:
It's hard to be in the world without being of the world because the world only loves those who are its own. We are set apart, although we are in the world, but we are in the camp of those who are sanctified by the Word of God and by prayer. This passage represents the great intercession of Jesus Christ on behalf of us his disciples, set apart. It is this priestly prayer which consecrates the disciples of Jesus to the work they must accomplish after his departure. Since the first part of the training is finished, Jesus presents to his Father the disciples set apart for the priesthood, the columns of the temple, the foundation of the primitive church. Jesus sets them apart to carry out the work to which they had been called. We are also among those who exercise the same function of ambassadors for Christ as the disciples. Let us devote ourselves entirely and without concession to the work of God in the greatest submission. The security that Jesus seeks from the Father will only be acquired when we serve God as set apart. If we behave like those of the world, what benefit would the Lord God get from us? What good will we do if we switch to the side of the world? May each one keep his flavor and his lamp lit in order to shine in this perverted world. Let us give the best of us and remain set apart in order to benefit from the priestly intercession of Jesus on behalf of those he has chosen. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
