Theme: “Watch Your Words!”
Text: James 3:5-12
5. Likewise, the tongue is a little member, yet boasts of great things. Behold, a little fire can kindle a great forest. 6. The tongue also is a fire; it is the world of iniquity. The tongue is placed among our members, defiling the whole body, and setting on fire the course of life, being itself set on fire by hell. 7. Every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, is tamed and has been tamed by human nature; 8. but the tongue, no man can tame; it is an unruly evil; it is full of deadly poison. 9. With it we bless the Lord our Father, and with it we curse men who are made in the image of God. 10. From the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. It must not be so, my brothers. 11. Does a spring send forth from the same mouth fresh water and bitter water? 12. Can a fig tree, my brothers, produce olives, or a vine figs? Neither can salt water produce fresh water.
Let us remember:
Watch your words! Words can announce good news that could stabilize a generation. But they can also harm and compromise several generations. The tongue is capable of proclaiming divine majesty. The same tongue can also praise the devil; for some, without knowing it; for others, they do it knowingly. The tongue only takes the direction that the heart gives it. We should not be hard on the tongue; on the contrary, we must go and view the thoughts engraved in the heart. A black, obscure heart, not transformed by the renewal of intelligence, such a heart will only incite its tongue to do evil. The tongue is the audible part of the heart. If we want to know the contents of a heart, let us listen to the words that come out of the tongue of the person concerned. The tongue is like a remote control for the heart. It is the representative, the ambassador of the heart. Let us fill our heart with love, light, the Word of God, and our tongue will be heavy when it should proclaim enormities. If it does, it will correct immediately. Unless we are an XXL hypocrite to manage to say things that come from the tip of the lips, otherwise most of the words come out of our heart deposit. Let us draw from the blessing side, the words that our tongue will come out. Let us tame our tongue and subject it to the orders of our heart, while greening the said heart. Let's not be light-hearted. Have a great Sunday. Amen
