Theme: “Watch your words!”
Text: Colossians 4:5-6
5. Walk in wisdom toward those outside, redeeming the time. 6. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
Let us remember:
Wisdom must be put forward every time we want to act or react. Our word must be wrapped in wisdom in order to give it a beautiful packaging. It is in order not to hurt certain sensibilities that we are recommended to behave wisely toward those outside. Apart from the aspect linked to sensibilities, there is also the possibility of evoking things that we do not master, which could be false, outdated or approximate. We must not speak to others casually. Let us be full of modesty in our language. Let us avoid verbal brutality, lack of respect but let us be polite and reserved. Let us put a good dose of grace in our words. Let us add a little salt to remove the blandness when speaking. To better watch over our words, we must be good tightrope walkers in our ability to measure the words and the emotions that follow the words. Let us take the right measure to avoid veering towards the fatal side of hypocrisy. Here again, we will be very badly seen by the Lord God and by our neighbor. Grace, love, temperance, gentleness, peace, humility and several other virtues must fill our words. Some words are like venoms that hurt listeners at every turn; it drives away people who would have wanted to approach us. Excellent Thursday. Amen
