Theme: “Vigilance and expectation" Text: Matthew 24:29-35 29. Immediately after these days of trouble, the sun will be darkened, the moon will no longer give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31. He will send his angels with a sounding trumpet, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. 32. Learn from a simile from the fig tree. As soon as its branches become tender, and the leaves sprout, you know that summer is near. 33. Likewise, when you see all these things, know that the Son of man is near, at the door. 34. Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all this happens. 35. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Remember: By reading these heralding signs of the return of Jesus Christ; it feels like a Star Wars fiction. Far from it, it is the truth of the great day, the day of lamentations and great cries of distress. The Lord Jesus will appear after announcing the credits of the beginning of events: the sun and the stars will be darkened, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken, the sign of the Son of man will appear in the sky, the tribes of the earth will mourn, the angels will sound the resounding trumpet… The fall of a single star is a fearful sign; and if all the stars fall at the same time, it is terrible. The size of the sun is 1.4 million kilometers; some stars are as large as 150,000 kilometers in diameter. Such a large mass falling from the sky is unbearable to watch without just fading dead. If several stars fall together, who can bear to observe such a doomsday scenario? But these things will happen to announce the appearing of the Son of Man.
