Theme: “To be in abundant grace Text: Genesis 33:1-11

1. Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked; and behold, Esau was coming with four hundred men. He divides the children between Léa, Rachel, and the two servants. 2. He placed the handmaidens with their children first, then Leah with her children, and finally Rachel with Joseph. 3. He himself passed before them; and he bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he was near his brother. 4. Esau ran to meet him; he embraced him, threw himself on his neck, and kissed him. And they wept. 5. Esau, looking up, saw the women and the children, and he said, Who are these you have there? And Jacob answered, These are the children which God hath given unto thy servant. 6. The servants came near, they and their children, and fell down; 7. Leah and her children also came near, and worshiped; then Joseph and Rachel approached and bowed down. 8. Esau said: What is this camp that I have met for? And Jacob answered, To find favor in the eyes of my lord. 9. Esau said: I have plenty, my brother; keep what is yours. 10. And Jacob answered, Nay, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy eyes, accept my present from my hand; for that is why I looked at your face as one looks at the face of God, and you received me favorably. 11. Accept therefore my present which has been offered to you, since God has filled me with graces, and I lack nothing. He insisted with him, and Esau agreed.

Let's remember:

To be in abundant grace is to experience great blessings that go beyond personal effort. Grace is abundant when we feel the favors attributed to God increasing; although it may pass through human persons having acted under the impulse of God. Both Jacob and his brother Esau were showered with abundant graces. God had blessed their flocks, their wives and their servants. The other figure of grace is when we grant a favor to someone to please him. Grace is abundant when it is ample, copious, dense, diffuse, rich, exuberant, fruitful, fertile, wide, rich and voluminous. The riches of Jacob were the product of his work but above all of grace because God stripped the riches of his father-in-law Laban and granted them to him. Jacob wanted to marry Rachel but grace made him also take Leah. When he signed an agreement with Laban about dividing up the flock, God leaned grace on Jacob's side and ultimately the whole flock fell to Jacob. Abundant graces come only from God. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
