Theme: “To be a disciple of Jesus Christ"
Text: John 8:28-32
28. Jesus therefore said to them, When you have lifted up the Son of man, then you will know what I am, and that I do nothing of my own accord, but speak as the Father has taught me. . 29. He who sent me is with me; he didn't leave me alone, because I always do what pleases him. 30. As Jesus spoke thus, many believed in him. 31. And he said unto the Jews who had believed in him: If ye abide in my word, ye are truly my disciples; 32. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Remember:
Before his Father who is also ours, Jesus was a good disciple. He was obedient and faithful. He always did the will of him who sent him. He did not establish his own doctrine; he didn't want to do things his way; he was not rebellious. Therefore, God did not abandon him day or night, he encouraged him. We too, let us be good disciples; let us be faithful and accomplished servants. When Jesus speaks to us through the Scriptures, believe in Him and walk with Him. Let us follow him and surrender our lives to him, lay all our burdens at his feet. Let us remain in his Word so that we are true disciples. If we don't stay in his Word, we will be called rebels and infidels. Whereas if we abide in his Word, the truth will set us free. By practicing the Word, we will know the truth because the Word of God is the truth. A disciple who does not know the truth and does not walk in the truth is a false disciple. He puts his master to shame. Let us remain in the Word of God to be good disciples; for the truth to set us free. Excellent Sunday. Amen
