Theme: “To be a disciple of Jesus Christ"
Text: Matthew 10:22-25
22. You will be hated by all, because of my name; but he who endures to the end will be saved. 23. When you are persecuted in one city, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not have finished going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man has come. 24. The disciple is not more than the master, nor the servant more than his lord. 25. It is enough for the disciple to be treated as his master, and for the servant as his lord. If they called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more will they call the people of his house that way!
Remember:
Our Lord Jesus Christ had suffered all kinds of atrocities from the wicked in the pay of the devil. His whole life was filled with threats and persecutions as he only wanted to deliver lost souls. On the other hand, he didn't spend his time defending himself, fighting, justifying himself, wanting to appear as the innocent without sin when he was. Jesus Christ continued to carry out his mission without stopping. However, he had warned us that we will suffer the same fate as him; and sometimes we can endure more than Him. To be a disciple is to follow in the footsteps of the Master. The footsteps of our master do not only lead us to quietude; there will be times of trouble and anguish, times of persecution and battle; moments of flogging and humiliation. We are asked to hold on because our master had held on until Golgotha. We cannot be greater our master. We cannot make an exception because our road map is clear: whoever wants to follow Jesus as a disciple must take up his cross. Let's be reassured; God can never abandon us. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
