Theme : " The Victorious Presence of Christ in His Church: Source of Our Assurance "
Text : 1 John 5:1-6
1. Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves him who begot him also loves him who is born of him. 2. We know we love God's children when we love God and do his commandments. 3. For the love of God consists in keeping his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, 4. because whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and the victory that triumphs over the world is our faith. 5. Who is it that has triumphed over the world, if not the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 6. It is he, Jesus Christ, who came with water and blood; not with water only, but with water and with blood; and it is the Spirit that bears record, because the Spirit is the truth.
Let's remember:
Christ is victorious all the way: victorious over sin, victorious over death. He humiliated the devil and his servants by triumphing over them on the cross and making a spectacle of them before the face of the physical and spiritual world in all generations. It was by obedience to his Father that Christ became victorious. He was able to keep all the commandments given by God the Father and these commandments are not painful. Likewise, we have the obligation to respect the same orders of God; especially since we don't have the mission to go and die on the cross for the sin of all humanity. Thus, our burden weighs less than that carried by Jesus the Christ. By keeping his orders, we triumph over the world; our faith triumphs over this world. He who is born of God overcomes the world; he loves his neighbor without judging him or looking at him down to the smallest detail on his way of living, of praying… He who is born of God cannot be attracted by the world and its pleasures; he is victorious. Likewise the victorious Christ came with water and blood, water for purification, and blood for atonement. Excellent Friday and good start into the weekend. Amen Alain Louz.-
