Theme : " The Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem "
Text : Mark 11:1-7
1. When they approached Jerusalem, and were near Bethphage and Bethany, towards the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2. saying to them, Go into the village which is in front of you; as soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied, on which no man has yet sat; untie him, and bring him. 3. If someone says to you: Why are you doing this? answer: The Lord needs it. And instantly he will let him come here. 4. When the disciples went, they found the colt tied outside near a gate by the side of the road, and they untied it. 5. Some of those who were there said to them, What are you doing? why are you untying that colt? 6. They responded as Jesus had said. And we let them go. 7. They brought the colt to Jesus, on which they threw their clothes, and Jesus sat on it.
Let's remember:
These unprecedented events augur a change in the way the crowd looks at Jesus. Now the crowds perceive that there really is divine authority in Jesus. A colt can be made available to him without rental charges or other conditions; not even say to bring him back in an hour. God wanted to leave the Jews in front of their responsibility since they had rejected the saving work of Christ; and let them know that he is the messiah who was to come and who came. The course that events are taking leave these Jews without excuses, especially as they sink deeper into their disbelief. This entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is royal because it is the fulfillment of a prophecy of Zechariah 9:9, "Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold, your king comes to you, meek and riding on an ass and on a colt , the foal of a donkey”. It was only for the king that you could throw clothes on a donkey and form a royal procession. No one ever received the ovations reserved for God except Jesus for whom the crowd chanted hosanna to the son of David. Excellent faith Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
