Theme : " The Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem "
Text : Zephaniah 3:14-17
14. Shout for joy, daughter of Zion! Shout for joy, Israel! Rejoice and triumph with all your heart, daughter of Jerusalem! 15. The LORD has turned away your chastisements, He has removed your enemy; The king of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; You have no more misfortune to experience. 16. In that day it will be said to Jerusalem, Fear not! Zion, let your hands not grow weak! 17. Yahweh your God is in your midst as a hero who saves; He will make you his greatest joy; He will remain silent in his love; He will have transports of joy for you.
Let's remember:
The children of Israel thought that the king in question was a great warrior, a valiant man who would lead them into battle after the example of David or Saul; to drive out invaders and other surrounding peoples. But the power of Jesus was above that of all the kings of this world. Christ, by entering Jerusalem, brought all-round deliverance to his people. While the people were only waiting for a political deliverance; Christ did beyond their expectations. He went to Hades to deliver the captives. By entering Jerusalem, Christ drove away the persecutor and put an end to the misery of the people who had once been weak in their hands. His entrance was so silent that only the crowd was shouting but Jesus was serene; the challenge being daunting, there was no room for distraction. He remained silent before the questions of his executioners. As for us today, we can shout for joy because Jesus has delivered us from the bondage of sin and from eternal death. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
