Theme: "The Transforming Power of the Gospel."

Text: Romans 8:28-30

28. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose. 29. For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30. And those he predestined he also called; and those he called he also justified; and those he justified he also glorified.

Let us remember:

Life is a chain of events. Everything that happens, everything that happens to us must teach us a lesson. In reality, everything we experience works together for the good of those who love God, of those who are called according to his purpose. This is why we are told to take everything with thanksgiving. It is not because we are upset that the outcome will be difficult. God uses certain difficulties to show us his help, so as to teach us that help comes neither from the East nor from the West, but from God. God uses the Gospel to transform our lives. He transforms our lives in order to commit us to his cause by making us obedient. He traces our path by strewing it with messengers of the Gospel who participate in our transformation. This is what brings us back to resemble the Son of God, Jesus Christ because we are Christs in miniature and therefore Christians. Any transformative work coming from the Gospel comes from a call. God calls people to his service in order to be his relays to help their contemporaries to love God. To accept God’s call is to be transformed by the power of the gospel. Likewise, to be justified is to be transformed by the power of the gospel. Finally, to be glorified is again to be transformed by the power of the gospel. Everything we experience comes from the transforming power of the gospel. Some results of this transforming power of the gospel will manifest themselves later. Excellent Saturday. Amen
