Theme: "The Transforming Power of the Gospel."
Text: John 1:11-13
11. He came to his own, and his own did not receive him. 12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name: 13. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Let us remember:
The Gospel is also called the Word or the Good News. The Gospel is the Word that was made flesh. The Gospel is the Word of God, therefore it is God. Every time we open the Bible to read it, it is God who comes to us. When we listen to a preacher, it is also God who comes to us. God is in His Word, and as such, when we refuse to accept His Word, it is Him that we refuse. When we do not read the Word, we have not invited God into our home. The Gospel came to His own, and His own did not receive it. His own are those who were chosen and elected as the race of God, the people for his own possession. However, there are some who received it with joy and eagerness. To all who received it, to those who believe in his name, the Gospel gave the power to become children of God. Through the transforming power of the Gospel, we gain access to the identity of legitimate children of God. Accepting the Gospel transforms us into children of God. It is the Gospel that is the link reconciling God and his children but also the children among themselves. Let us know that the Gospel is the other name of Jesus Christ. Whoever devotes himself to reading, meditating on and putting the Gospel into practice is a child of God, born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Reading and living according to the Gospel is the motherhood (the birthplace) of the children of God. Excellent Monday. Amen.
