Theme : " The Retribution of the Wicked "
Text : 1 Chronicles 10:1-14
1. The Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled before the Philistines and fell dead on Mount Gilboa. 2. The Philistines pursued Saul and his sons, and killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki Schua, sons of Saul. [……..] 13. Saul died because he was guilty of infidelity to the Lord, whose word he did not observe, and because he questioned and consulted those who evoke the dead. 14. He did not inquire of the LORD; Then the LORD slew him, and transferred the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.
Let's remember:
King Saul was a good person at the beginning of his kingship until he gave way to jealousy, hatred against David his servant. Having noticed the assets that God invests in David, Saul recognized that his kingship will never return to his posterity because it was clear that David had the profile, the competence, the approval of God and men. Instead of giving thanks to God, King Saul instead opened his heart to the devil who inspired him with evil thoughts now seeking to eliminate David. He made several incursions in search of her without success. On the contrary, it was David who had the upper hand over him but refused to kill him out of respect for God's anointed. To flesh out his wickedness, Saul went so far as to offer sacrifices to God, something reserved for priests. To top it off, he disguised himself to conjure up the spirits of the dead. It was too much for God, who resolved to put him to death because Saul did not want to sincerely repent of his wickedness; rather, it was going from bad to worse. He had received the retribution due to the wicked. It is up to us to learn about his life to avoid such imprudence. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
