Text : Acts 12:20-24
20 Herod was in conflict with the Tyrians and the Sidonians. But they came to find him by mutual agreement and, after winning over Blastus, the person in charge of his chamber, they sued for peace because their region depended on that of the king for its supplies. 21 On the appointed day, Herod, dressed in royal attire, sat on his throne and publicly addressed them. 22 The people cried out, “It is the voice of a god and not of a human being!” 23 An angel of the Lord struck him immediately because he had not given glory to God. He died eaten by worms. 24 As for the word of God, it spread more and more.
Let's remember:
At this time, King Herod began to mistreat members of the Church, and he killed James, John's brother, with the sword. When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he had Peter arrested again; during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. After having him arrested and thrown into prison, he put him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each; he intended to bring him before the people after the Passover. But God worked a miracle by extirpating his servant Peter among the soldiers. An angel of God raided the prison and took God's anointed. This help from God to Peter sounded to Herod's ears like a humiliation. But God wanted to bring him to order so that he would stop persecuting his servants. Alas, Herod was more stubborn until he entered the preserve of God; the realm of his glory. Above wickedness, Herod added contempt for God. That was enough for him to be struck dead 💀.
