Theme: "The reconciliation of God with his people" Text: Genesis 6:5-7
5. The LORD saw that the wickedness of men was great in the earth, and that all the thoughts of their hearts were directed daily only to evil. 6. The LORD repented that he had made man on earth, and he was grieved in his heart. 7. And the LORD said, I will destroy from the face of the earth the man whom I have created, from man even to the cattle, to the creeping things, and to the birds of the air; for I repent of having made them.
Let's remember:
In Noah's time, the earth was corrupt, it was full of violence. All flesh was stained with sin. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Then God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh is settled with me; for they have filled the earth with violence; behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; I establish my covenant with you; you shall enter the ark, you and your sons, your wife and your sons' wives with you." What was done. After the flood and out of gratitude, Noah built an altar to the Lord; he offered burnt offerings. The LORD smelled a sweet odor, and said, I will no more curse the earth. Thanks to these sacrifices, God was reconciled with his creature. It was nevertheless a fragile alliance because sin resumed over the ages. Even today, sin fills the world despite the abundant dissemination of messages calling for repentance. The world forgets its reconciliation made with Jesus on the cross. Let's say that Noah's good behavior was a starting point for God's reconciliation with his people. Reconciliation is the action of getting back into agreement, in harmony between positions that were blurred. Each time the Lord comes to call us to order, it is because we violate the terms of reconciliation cast on the concrete of his Word. Note that reconciliation can be collective or individual. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
