The practice of social justice in our homes

Wednesday May 11, 2022

Theme : “ The practice of social justice in our homes Text : Mark 10:13-14

13. Children were brought to him, that he might touch them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14. Jesus, seeing this, was indignant, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and do not forbid them; for the kingdom of God is for such as they are.

Let's remember:

The disciples of Jesus were blinded by the spirit of bias; they thought that children did not deserve to approach Jesus, at the risk of infantilizing him; the things of God don't concern children. It is the grown-ups who must draw near to God; they thought. This false reading is a big injustice done to children. The Eternal is the God of the whole universe including nature. No one has the right to exclude others from before the face of God. Jesus, being opposed to injustices, quickly caught up and corrected this fault to the detriment of his disciples who were stunned by it. Let us never forget to teach our children the need to go before the face of God in order to be touched by Him; and receive blessing from Him. The exclusion of children from God's business is injustice and must be recognized as such. Let's stop believing that in the presence of God, children will grope Jesus. And even if so, where is the harm if they sympathize with God? It is up to parents to rein in their children if they think they might interfere with a time of prayer; without preventing them from participating; for it is a good thing to see one's children loving God. Excellent Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
