Theme: “The power of praise: an asset for the liberation of the people of God” Text: Revelation 5:8-14
8. When he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders bowed down before the lamb, each holding a harp and golden bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9. And they sang a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the scroll, and to open the seals thereof; for thou wast slain, and by thy blood thou hast redeemed men unto God out of every tribe, tongue, people, and nation; 10. You have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign in the earth. 11. I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, and their number was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands. 12. They said with a loud voice: The lamb that was slain is worthy to receive power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and praise. 13. And all the creatures that are in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and all that is therein, I heard them saying, To him that sits on the throne, and to lamb, be praise, honor, glory, and strength, forever and ever! 14. And the four living creatures said: Amen! And the elders fell down and worshipped.
Let's remember:
Jesus Christ, the slain lamb, the only one who could break the silence that invaded heaven and earth, when the question was asked, who is fit to open the Book and break its seals? Not all creatures could lift a finger, nothing and no one could open their mouths to answer the question. Sadness seized Jean who saw this apocalyptic painting describing the inaptitude of creation in the face of the destiny of humanity which proved to be perilous. Fortunately, the offspring of David was found worthy and pure. He stopped this disastrous and macabre stage in order to plant a new decor of life, joy and hope. Now mankind could have its destiny taken care of by the Son of God, the author of our redemption. His courage and aptitude, crowned with holiness, were pledges of our salvation. This glorious gesture of the Son of God aroused a mighty praise that tore the silence that had settled around the throne of God. All the angels around the throne, the living beings and the elders sang in chorus a new song to the glory of the Lamb of God. Stepping forward in front of the throne to take up the Book served as a trigger to spread praise in the divine presence. This praise was so powerful that it came to all creatures in heaven, on earth, under the earth, on the sea. They said: To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be praise, honor, glory, and strength, forever and ever. In praise, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders bowed down before the lamb with their harps. They sang this tune: Worthy art thou to take up the book, and to open its seals… Thus the world received its release to the sounds of praise resounding around the throne of God. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
