The power of Jesus Christ, source of our faith

Theme: “The power of Jesus Christ, source of our faith

Text: Mark 1:23-28

23. There was found in their synagogue a man who had an unclean spirit, and he cried out: 24. What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? You came to ruin us. I know who you are: the Holy One of God. 25. Jesus threatened him, saying, Be silent, and come out of this man. 26. And the unclean spirit came out of the man, shaking him violently, and crying out loudly. 27. All were astonished, so that they asked one another, What is this? A new doctrine! He commands with authority even unclean spirits, and they obey him! 28. And his fame immediately spread throughout all the surrounding places of Galilee.

Let's remember:

Impure spirits denounce themselves when Jesus Christ makes an incursion into the place where they make the law. They even ask for the abandonment of their evil works so that the Lord Jesus does not destroy them. Note that evil spirits, for fear of suffering the power of Jesus, engage in the praise and adoration of Jesus. They say what his true nature is and his belonging to the celestial nation. It is a truth but it masks the lie in which the devil lives. Indeed, the demon spoke the truth but he does not live in the truth. He does it here just so as not to suffer the lightning of the power, of the power of Jesus. Nevertheless, we notice that in verse 24, the demon confesses the nature of Jesus, his positioning, his mission and even his origin. This means that the power of Jesus spreads wherever it is found; scaring away the devil and his demons. Jesus did not want to engage in a series of negotiations with the unclean spirit. Jesus' power is too strong that he was not afraid to see the impure spirit violently shaking the possessed person. Likewise the loud cry that the demon made the possessed man utter did not intimidate Jesus because nothing can confront his power. While Jesus had no legal authorization to preach in the synagogues, unlike the scribes, his power was so great that his messages amazed the audience; everyone wanted to know where this power and power came from. 3 characteristics emerged: an authoritative message, a message different from other teachers, a new message. Have a great Wednesday. Amen
