Theme: “The power of Jesus Christ, source of our faith”
Text: Mark 1:14-15
14. After John was delivered up, Jesus went into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God. 15. He said: The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the good news.
Let's remember:
Jesus Christ used his power well. None of his interventions were clumsy or complacent. He did not give in to frustration, discouragement, anger, or any other weakness of the flesh. He was firm and oriented towards the will of his Father. We know that John the Baptist only appeared to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. He predicted the coming of Jesus and then saw with his own eyes the fulfillment of this prophecy. He also testified that Jesus came from heaven. He named it as if to say: mission accomplished. And when Jesus entered into the exercise of his ministry; in the same period John the Baptist was arrested by Herod. Since Jesus was performing many miracles, John was waiting for Jesus to take him out of prison. When he did not do so, he sent his disciples to question him if he was really the true Messiah who should come; or should they wait for another one? This meant: if you are the true Messiah that I announced, why don't you return the favor by miraculously getting me out of these prisons? Now, Jesus did not indulge in complacency, he did not indulge in sensationalism or flashiness. His interventions were oriented towards salvation in accordance with God's will. This constancy of Jesus in consolidating his power is the source of our faith. Such a Lord can only be the source of our faith. Have a great Monday. Amen
